7/27/2010 Update:  Pups are 8 weeks old today!  I can't believe how quickly this time flies by.  They all got their first shots and health certificates.  Pups weights were between 16-21 lbs.  Everyone is healthy, active, beautiful and they all have lovely temperaments!  The first few are leaving tonight, and the rest over the weekend.  It is a time full of mixed emotions for any breeder.  I feel both sad that they are leaving, yet so happy to make our puppy families' lives full of Berner Love!

7 weeks old

7/14/10 - SIX WEEK UPDATE:

At six weeks old, these pups are absolutely a blast!  I struggle to come to work each day and leave the fun!  The pups are doing well pottying outside. We have been taking little "walks" around the yard and they follow me very well.  When the other dogs bark from the back pen, they all run back to the "safe" patio area! It is so funny. They are getting braver by the day, venturing further away from me and Scarlet, exploring, sniffing, and more agile and confident.  They have completely demo'd my daylily patch!!!  It is totally flat, except about 3 clumps that are hanging on for dear life!  We have been doing individual training too, learning to sit and down.  I will be able to show you a bit Saturday.  These guys respond so well to positive training and are little sponges!

Scarlet is still letting them nurse, but they are consuming about 8 lbs of food a day now.  I feed them twice a day and Scarlet give them a little lunch snack.  She cleans up after their meals, and they steal a "top off" from her while she does that.  They give chase until she finally gives up running from them and stops.  Hanging out with Uncle Camden is fun for them, but he is still horrified when they get "too close" and he barks and hops away!  He is quite ridiculous, but still so interested in them.  It is comical to watch!  Flurry loves them too, but can't be completely trusted with her crazy energy.  She can fling herself around like no other Berner I know! She is leashed and supervised at all times. She is getting better though.

Its sad to think that only 2 more weeks before they leave us...
