Ch. Southwind Leave Me Spellbound, CGC

Kiera is the foundation of Spellbound Bernese Mountain Dogs.  She came to me from Dr. Jon Cons & Mrs. Judith Cons of Southwind Bernese in Cornish, ME.  Kiera was not only a beautiful dog - conformationally superior, balanced angulation both stacked and on the move, correct tail set & carriage, perfect expressive ears, and those soft, dark almond eyes, with a kind expression.  She was obedient, kind, silly, willing to work, happy to please me, reliable, resourceful, confident, trusting, intuitive....but our Kiera was tragically killed in an accident, she was hit by a car.

I was so very blessed to have her in my life, yet even I, an experienced dog person, failed to keep her safe.  Thus, because of my experience in the past, I will not consider a home for a Spellbound Puppy that does not have a fenced yard.  This is very difficult, but I feel so strongly that even under the best circumstances, there is always a  risk of danger.  Not only was this a tragic accident, but selfishly, it took from me my heart dog.  She was only beginning to reach her potential with obedience, rally, tracking and agility.  I feel certain that if Kiera was still with us, that we would have obtained some performance titles, and done therapy work, and taught others show handling and obedience training...who knows?  We will never know.  I am sharing this with you because it is important, and it will give you insight into why I demand FENCED YARDS for all my puppy homes!

Kiera gave me two beautiful litters before her accident.  Daddy Yupp gave me Camden & Darby, and Daddy Tschuggen gave me Scarlet.  We move forward, knowing that our foundation is very strong and sound in every way.  Thank you to Jon & Judy...you know you are loved, and that Kiera was and continues to be...
